Bestselling author Lucy Score returns to Knockemout, Virginia, following fan-favorite Things We Never Got Over with Knox’s brother Nash’s story.

Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic attacks and nightmares. He feels like a broody shell of the man he once was. Nash isn’t about to let anyone in his life know he’s struggling. But his new next-door neighbor, smart and sexy Lina, sees his shadows. As a rule, she’s not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it, but for some reason Nash’s touch is different. He feels it too. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.

Too bad Lina’s got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to be dissuaded…even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.

Review

Romance Reviewed ~ “The magic of the author’s writing is not only in her humor, which is guaranteed to make me laugh out loud, but also in her ability to write such realistic characters and settings that you feel like you might actually stumble across this rough-around-the-edges town and hang out with these characters that feel like friends. Her characters are wonderfully flawed and make mistakes and I love how realistic that is. Along with the laughs, steam, and emotions, this story also had a good bit of danger and mystery that I loved watching unravel.”

Erica Binges Books ~ “I love the mix of romance and humor and mystery and humor… yes, I said humor twice, but Score’s books just always have me laughing.”

Tweet Preet Books ~ “Y’all. This book. This series. These characters. This town. I loved it so much and these two as main leads with all my favs in the background gave me a little bit of what I was missing in my real life. Wrapped up in joy, grief, life lessons, and points that had me rolling laughing, LS delivers. I’m at a loss of how to articulate what I feel because I’m in shambles after this one.”

Reka’s Bookshelf ~ “The story is filled with secrets to be revealed…and of course with all the Knockemout stories that we’ve all missed so much.”

A Bookish Beginning ~ “There. Are. No. Words. Lucy Score, you mad genius, you have done it again. This book hit me in my feels in a way I was not expecting.”

Charlotte Reads ~ “I do love a book that can talk about important things so seamlessly and well!”

Jeeves Reads Romance ~ “It was great to be back in Knockemout – this sequel did NOT disappoint! I think I liked it better than the first one, and that was very tough competition. There was just something immensely compelling about this wounded and vulnerable hero; he’s a genuinely good guy who is in a dark place, and it’s not until a fierce, fiery woman enters his life that he starts coming back into the light. I also loved the neighbors aspect, and just how much this community bonds together. It could certainly be read as a standalone if you really wanted to, but the community is integral to the story and the suspense element ties the books together. The romance is at the heart of everything though, and these two were fire together – it’s a hot slow burn, with crackling chemistry and tons of sexual tension. These opposites attract in a big way, and it was so much fun watching them fall together.”

Kitty Kats Crazy About Books ~ “I’ve never giggled so much, swooned so hard, throw in the little rescue dog and I was mush.”

Kellie Basic Bookz ~ “WOW!! Lucy Score did it again! Picking up right where Things We Never Got Over left off, I was immediately transported right back into the heart of Knockemout, VA with all of our favorite main characters such as Knox, Naomi, & Waylay…plus all the quirky side characters we fell in love with in TWNGO! I absolutely loved getting to know Nash throughout the story & resonated with Lina throughout the book as well. I really enjoyed how the story centered around Lina & Nash while giving us glimpses into Knox & Naomi’s life after falling in love with them in the first book. This story had a suspenseful edge from the start and kept me hooked until the very end. I devoured this book in less than 24 hours, I just couldn’t put it down!”

Bookish Charli ~ “I was so excited to dive back into this awesome small town series. Five hours later I had “accidentally” ignored all of my adult responsibilities so I could binge this book in one sitting, and now I’m left needing MORE. Excuse me while I go dream of Nash until we get Lucien’s book…”

Book Addict Book Blog ~ “I love the quirks, charm, and uniqueness of small-town Knockemout, and the geriatric neighbor, Mrs. Tweedy, is pure comic gold. She’s freaking brilliant and stole most every scene she was in.”

Ruth’s Romances ~ “I love how well rounded this author’s stories are and this one was no exception. You get everything from the feels, to action, to steam and emotion. Complete with humor and shenanigans in all the places you’d never expect. Lucy Score keeps you on your toes while delivering a read to remember! Not only do the MC’s deliver, but so do the side characters. I loved getting more from Knox, Naomi and Way especially. And I CAN NOT WAIT to have Lucian and Sloane’s story. I’m completely invested in this town and its characters happily ever afters!”

Bookstagram Brielle ~ “I swear, Lucy Score could write a book report on the history of bread and I’d read it and love it! The way she can create a town is mesmerizing. You can imagine this fake place as real and all the quirky characters and wish you could move there and meet them all. I just love the way she tells a story.”

Pretty Little Memoirs ~ “a page-turning, rapturous story that I loved so much more than it’s predecessor. From the lilts of cute repartee to exciting plot, it kept my attention (despite how long it was!) all throughout. This is a definite must-read for romance fans this month!”

Michelle Reads Romance ~ “a fun romance with serious undertones, but the laughs just kept coming with this one. So many shenanigans, just as you’d expect from a Lucy Score book.”

Read Mom Repeat ~ “I appreciate that Lucy always writes such kick-ass, relatable female characters (and swoony leading men). This small town and cast of characters have my heart. Not only do I adore the main characters but the side characters are quirky and hilarious. This book is far beyond a 5 star read.”

Booklover Judy Lynn ~ “There are steamy times, funny moments, and elements of danger and suspense woven into this story. The small town feels real and is its own character to this series. Secondary characters and other residents of the town are well developed and play an important role. Main characters are complex and layered as they each help the other heal and move forward. The book itself does more than follow a traditional story arc: there are ups and downs throughout. There is the most epic marriage proposal ever, a grand gesture that will make you laugh, and an epilogue that will leave you in happy tears.”

Jen’s Dreamy Little Reads ~ “all the action, suspense, comedy and sweet moments – this book had me hooked. A special mention has to go to the supporting characters who are all completely wonderful. Every person in the town of Knockemout was so distinct, vivid and colourful. And I NEED Sloane and Lucian’s story like I need AIR.”

AJ’s Book-reMarks ~ “Lucy Score brings it again with this tale and does not disappoint her readers; there is so much stuff happening in this story that it keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages as fast as you can read them. Highly recommended, but don’t start it unless you plan on finishing it.”

Bex Book Revieux ~ “If you love the broody, depressed hero then Nash is definitely your guy!!”

Drea’s Ficticious Fling ~ “Good Gracious these Morgan Brothers are something else! The way Nash cares for Lina, and understands her made my heart flutter. He was swoony AF but don’t let my swooning fool you. There was a suspenseful edge from the beginning of this book that had me hooked until the end. From start to finish this book was amazing. And don’t even get me started on the Epilogue!”

Booked on Lattes ~ “At times hilarious and other times heartbreaking, this book really has it all with romance, suspense, and action! I love a bad girl, good boy story, and I knew Nash and Lina were perfect for each other from the moment they run into each other”

And That’s What She Read ~ “I love the plots in this series. They are so much more than just a grumpy sunshine romance. The story is what really sucks you in!”

Chelsea’s Bookshelf ~ “This was such a slow burn, but worth it in the end!! This was much darker than the first book as we get to know more about Nash and Lina. I loved seeing the whole crew together, and I love the dual pov.”

Night Reads ~ “Both Lina and Nash were amazing and Lina is now one of my favorite female characters! There was fire, action, banter, favorites from TWNGO and I can’t wait for Lucian and Sloane’s book!”
